Firstly, my photographs from the busy and exhilarating St. Andrew's Day festivities in Loch Avie. As you can see, I tried my hand again at Highland sports, and proved... I need more practice. However, I did manage (somehow) to avoid freezing anything; I think the vigour of the caber and hammer events kept my blood stirring sufficient to deal with the brisk and Arctic wind in the Loch without additional outer-wear. Or other-wear.

I made a point of trying for good photographs of the Duchal Championship, held between the games and the ceilidh.
If any image pleases particularly, I have the original uncropped and uncompressed versions still.

Fraulein Alex Fitzsimmons, for Kintyre, proved frustrating to capture, however. Her vestments, not merely her speed, obscured good views.

The ceilidh, held uphill from the Loch Avie telehub, proved both pleasant and surprising. Fraulein Teleri Davies (whom I was not able to photograph) arrived at the dance most unexpectedly. Her sisters have been telling me about her, and how she had been reluctant to travel the great distance to join them; I did not expect her to manifest as a drowess, however, but perhaps that is why her second surname is 'Nightfire'. Between the Lady Champion, the fraulein and Herr Lunar, suddenly the elven population quite exploded. I know Frau Davies, who had been able to attend the ceilidh, was very happy to see her 'dark sister' arrive.

I have been most profoundly flanked - Her Grace of Loch Avie and Fraulein Eladrienne Laval have both 'tagged' me, nearly simultaneously, for a word-game being played in Caledonian journals at the moment.

I have been instructed to provide eight facts or habits about myself, then pass the game onwards. Hmmm. I'm afraid most of these won't surprise anyone, but I shall give it a go.
  1. Despite what my detractors say, I never wanted to be 'Tyrant of Europa', nor any sort of ruler of Europa. I'd much rather be in the laboratory furthering my research.

  2. I cannot stand the Heterodyne Boys books - I think tolerating wandering players to mock me mercilessly is more than enough tolerance for one man.

  3. Women with the Spark try to kill me; blonde Sparks make me nearly full-on paranoid before the first attempt.

  4. Most people don't realise exactly how proud I am of my son, including Gilgamesh himself. My position does not require me to wear my heart on my sleeve.

  5. I will not talk about my brothers.

  6. One reason I started visiting Caledon (and ports elsewhere) is to escape the stresses of rulership. The fact that Sparks are thick on the ground, providing a wealth of passive observation for my research, turned out to be serendipitous.

  7. Although it is not widely know, I do not care if people know I am a construct. The fact that my body was assembled is completely irrelevant to my work - no matter the opinion of the nobility.

  8. Because of my temper, some people do not understand that bellowing can equal deep concern. Those who do not listen carefully are also those not likely to ever notice the truth at all.
The Rules:
  1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

  2. People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.

  3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

  4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
Let me see if I can spread this further afield than where it's been ranging. I tag:
Herr TotalLunar Eclipse
Herr Doktor Rafael Fabre
Fraulein Fire Chief Qlippothic Projects
Herr Skusting Dagger
Of course, Frau Annechen Lowey
Fraulein Titania Eldridge
Young Herr Loki Eliot
The very busy Fraulein Seneschal Serra Anansi
